Yemen celebrates graduation of first policewomen batch

The first batch of Yemeni policewomen graduated from the police academy on Thursday September 30, 2010.
The graduation ceremony for the first batch of academic policewomen and the third batch of academic policemen was attended by the President of the Republic Ali Abdullah Saleh, Vice President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi, Prime minister Ali Mohammed Mujawar and a number of ministers, members of parliament and Shoura councils as well as high ranking officers and officials in the police academy in Sana’a.

On behalf of President Saleh the Prime minister Ali Mohammed Mujawar delivered a speech congratulating the graduates, ...... wishing them success and bright futures serving their nation.

“We really rely on your future role for supporting the law and applying it so as to protect society and to enforce law and order,” said the prime minister.

The graduates specialized in medicine, engineering and foreign languages.

“The celebration of the graduation of the first female police officers is a great accomplishment that can be added to the remarkable accomplishments of the revolution under the patronage of President Ali Abdullah Saleh,” said the prime minister.

The prime minister also praised the roles played by the Yemeni police for combating all sorts of terror, crimes and sabotage.

Hundreds under graduate police women had graduated from police schools in the past ten years; however this is the first batch of policewomen to graduate from a police academy holding bachelor degrees in police sciences, law and foreign languages.
