Yemen and the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reviewed here on Monday the situation Abyan displaced people are suffering from in Aden and Lahj provinces.
This came in a meeting brought together Minister of State for Parliament and Shura Council Affaires and head of the executive committee for running the displaced camps' affaires Ahmed al-Kuhlani with the UNHCR delegation headed by Hani al-Majali.
During the meeting, al-Kuhlani acquainted the UNHCR delegation with the tough conditions of about 54,000 displaced people, who have fled from Abyan to Aden and Lahj provinces due to the clashes between the military troops and al-Qaeda.He also indicated to the developments of the current political crisis in the country that affected negatively the normal life of the citizens, owing to the breaches the protesters have committed, including carrying weapons and blocking roads.
For his part, Abyan governor Saleh al-Zaw'ari briefed the delegation on the conditions of the refugees existing in the shelter centers and their suffering from the lack of food, medicine and relief stuffs.He also explained in details the reasons were behind the displacement of thousands of families from Abyan.
The governor called on the UNCHR delegation and the relief organizations working in Yemen to present the required assistance to the displaced people.
