UNICEF continues to support the war victims in the south of Yemen

A total of 877 of the most vulnerable and conflict affected children (413 girls, 464 boys) received birth certificates during a rapid registration campaign in Aden Governorate, South Yemen, said the Yemen-based office of UNICEF Tuesday. 


In a statement sent to local media, the international organization said,  the nutrition sub cluster in Southern Yemen finalized the data collection phase of the ongoing SMART survey in Abyan during December. Data entry and analysis will begin in January 2013.

It also said that 86,000 bags had  been distributed as part of the back to school campaign for Hodeidah, Al-Mahweet and Raymah Governorates, North Yemen. 

A total of 24 of the 35 schools in Aden had  now been rehabilitated with the rest due to be finalized by mid-January 2013 for the benefit of around 28,500 children, said the statement.
